Nitroduck

Monsanto for yummy crops, but without pesticides

Nitroduck makes gene editing easy for all crops, so breeders can create new varieties such as seedless cherries, non-browning avocados, and pink pineapples. They aim to make pesticides obsolete in vegetables and fruits, and to build crops like heat-tolerant coffee, almonds that don't need pollinators, and pistachios that don't need winter chill. Co-founder and CTO Matúš co-led an iGEM Grand Prize team and has research experience at Karolinska Institutet and CEITEC.

Matúš Grieš

Co-founder & CTO at Nitroduck (YC F26). I co-led iGEM Brno 2025 to Grand Prize against 330 teams including Stanford and Oxford. I worked at Karolinska Institutet (Amgen Scholars), building nanoparticles for drug delivery to placenta and at CEITEC, where I demonstrated plant telomere proteins bind human DNA more tightly than their own. I'm a National Decathlon Champion and 13x silver medalist in triple jump and high jump.
